About Ride for Life
Ride For Life, Inc. is a not-for-profit corporation founded in 1998 by ALS patients, caregivers and those who care about people living with ALS.
We are called "Ride For Life" because of our annual event in which ALS patients ride their power wheelchairs, along with supporters down the highways and byways to raise funds for a cure and create awareness for their disease. For over the past 20 years, ALS patients have ridden their wheelchairs first from Yankee Stadium to Washington D.C., then from Montauk Point (the tip of Long Island) to Manhattan and finally, all around the Metro area. We have raised nearly 5 million dollars to fight ALS.
The mission of Ride For Life, Inc. is to raise research funds to find a cure for Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), to support patients and their families through patient services, to raise awareness and to provide the community with the latest ALS news, information and inspiration.
